Learn how to use the EPI methodology

The online Spring Course will cover both the theoretical and practical components of the EPI methodology. Taught by EPI researchers, the course is aimed at researchers, students and professionals working in international institutions, NGOs, donor institutions or government. It is particularly beneficial for researchers seeking to apply the EPI methodologies and practitioners designing projects or policy, assessing policy outcomes and measuring and demonstrating impact with rigor and realism.

 

What's included? 

  • Critical, experience-based analysis of the peacebuilding field.

  • Exploration of key concepts for a bottom-up methodology, including participatory research, community, locality, and everydayness.

  • Examination of indicators, verification, analysis techniques and the processes of coding and categorization.

  • Practical guidance on designing of research tools, including surveys, interviews, focus groups, forms and voting processes.

  • Real-life examples drawn from EPI practice worldwide, featuring case studies from Colombia, Sri Lanka, Bosnia, and the United States.

 

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Apply the EPI methodology to design, monitor and evaluate programs and policies.

  • Adapt the EPI methodology to diverse community contexts.

  • Interpret data to inform decision-making

  • Who should attend this training?
    The training is designed for individual peacebuilding practitioners, researchers, and teams from NGOs or civil society organizations. Due to limited seating (maximum 15 students per class), groups of 4 or more should inquire about enrollment availability.
  • Where will classes meet?
    This is an online course conducted via Zoom, emphasizing active learning through discussions, activities, and debates. Expect a dynamic and participatory experience.
  • Who will be leading the course?
    Experienced EPI experts lead the course, supplemented by guest lecturers for specialized topics, based on students' interests and course objectives.
  • How should students prepare?
    We usually provide some reading before the first session.
  • Is a certificate awarded upon completion of the training?
    Yes. Upon completing the EPI training, participants will receive a certificate of completion.
  • What is the fee for attending the training?
    The enrollment fee is USD $1500 per person. Scholarships are available, and we provide a 20% group discount for participants from the same organization. The deadline for registration and payment is April 15th.
